General Motors enters their 2015 GMC Canyon midsize pickup in corporation with the Chevrolet Colorado. Toyota is a leader in this market, and GM left the production of midsize pickups last year. Now, they are back with all new model 2015 Canyon. New interior and upgraded engine should be better competitor to sales leader Toyota Tacoma, than its predecessors. With the gain of 28 percent from 2011, Toyota sold 141,365 Tacoma vehicles. In US sales, GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado had 163,668 deliveries combined delivers in 2005 and 575,497 was last year total for all GMC and Chevrolet full-size pickups.
The 2015 Canyon will be unveiled in the Detroit’s North American International Auto Show in January. Production of the 2015 GMC Canyon will begin next year and arrival is expected by fall. Vehicles will be produced at GM’s factory near St. Louis
2015 GMC Canyon redesign
The 2015 GMC Canyon is likely to come out slightly bigger compared to the previous model. Large front grille will be refreshed with thick and long chrome lines which will give embellished exterior look. Other upgrades from the previous model were hardly to see under heavy camouflaged test vehicles.
Interior should feature many cutting-edge technology elements, such as IntelliLink infotainment system and a large touchscreen. There won’t be lack on the safety features either.
2015 GMC Canyon diesel
The new 2015 GMC Canyon will be powered by a new Turbo Diesel powertrain. Engines should be 2.5 and 2.8 liters and we expect both of these to deliver durable performance. The 2.8 liter turbo-diesel engine is rated at 180 hp with 346 lb-ft of torque. Less powerful 2.5 l has 150 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is paired with six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy should be improved too. 3.6-liter V-6 engine is possibility, but it is guessing if that one will be an option. There are also whispers about 2.4-liter four-cylinder and 4.3-liter V6 engines. With additional features, you will be able to purchase automatic transmission and choose between rear- or all-wheel drive.
2015 GMC Canyon competitors
By the unveil of new Canyon, Tacoma should be imminent. Also, Nissan Frontier and Honda Ridgeline not far behind. However, more than ever Canyon has a chance to compete with Tacoma, especially if its price tag gets on par with it.
